Humans all share an innate desire to belong and connect with a group. Often, hotels forget that customers are humans before they are paying guests. The result of an effective hotel branding is the expectation that a current or a future guest has of a particular experience or outcome. We thought that the artist Athens is an overall experience. Not another boutique hotel downtown the historical center of Athens. Not even an elegant visual and advertising identity. In a building, where once housed graffiti artists, we created detailed hand-drawn enlarged illustrations and street art-like brush interventions on the signage typography of the interior part of the hotel which emphasizes the unique qualities of the hotel. The signage is carefully placed in order to avoid exaggeration as it can easily appear inauthentic. Authentic storytelling —descended from the Greek antiquity sculptures of gods & goddesses and mixed with the contemporary way of how people are traveling nowadays—, we reinforced a unique asset that is most relevant to the hotel’s target audience. The artist Athens demonstrates a relatable, human-centric branding approach that connects with guests on an emotional level.
Here we are, on the most authentic side of Athens.
